Aperture

Terms of Use

Effective date: July 9, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Aperture iOS app (“the app”), from Quiet Optics. By using the app you agree to them. If you obtained the app through the Apple App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two conflict, these terms control to the extent permitted.

1. What Aperture is — and isn’t

Aperture is a practice and attention-discipline tool for the Controlled Remote Viewing (CRV) protocol. It presents randomized hidden targets, records your impressions, and scores trait overlap after reveal.

The app makes no claims of psychic ability, paranormal function, or predictive power. Scores measure vocabulary overlap between your entries and a target’s tagged traits — nothing more. The app is provided for personal practice, curiosity, and entertainment. It is not a medical, psychological, diagnostic, financial, or decision-making tool, and it must not be used as one.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the app except where the law permits despite this limitation.

3. Aperture Pro (subscriptions & lifetime unlock)

4. Your content

Your session data (impressions, sketches, scores) is yours and stays on your device — except for the optional Pro iCloud sync you can turn on, which moves it through your own private iCloud and nowhere else. We claim no rights to it and never see it. See the Privacy Policy — we collect nothing.

5. Target imagery

Target photographs are sourced under their respective licenses (e.g. the Pixabay Content License) with attribution recorded in the app’s data. They are licensed for use within the app, not for extraction or redistribution.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

The license ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by deleting the app. Sections 6–7 survive termination.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes take effect when a new effective date is posted here. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
